| DR-60 Cleaner-Remover is used in the penetrant process to remove excess, nonwater-washable penetrants from part surfaces, e.g., Sherwin DP-40 Dye Penetrant (visible red) and Sherwin RC-65 and RC-77 Flourescent Penetrants. It is a manual "wipe on" and "wipe off" material and, consequently, recommended for small areas. DR-60 may also be used for generally cleaning oily, dirty surfaces. | LA-1 was formulated specifically for cleaning prior to penetrant inspection. It is a penetrant compatible cleaner. It replaces chlorinated solvent vapor degreasing as the first stage in the production penetrant inspection process. LA-1 may be used on all metals - ferrous and nonferrous - including aluminum, magnesium, high nickel, and titanium alloys. It removes light shop oils such as cutting oils, forming oils, light rust preventatives, and organic soils acquired during processing. | ER-83A is a concentrated "detergent" used diluted with water to emulsify Sherwin's fluorescent penetrants, such as the Sherwin "RC-" designated products. ER-83A removes surface, non-water-washable penetrants by spray or immersion following a pre-wash step.
